Shahrukh says Chak De India! at Johannesburg

Shahrukh at the Twenty20 World Cup Final (Image: Cricinfo.com)

Shahrukh Khan came to watch the India vs. Pakistan match in Johannesburg along with his son Aryan. The team did not disappoint the King Khan (of Bollywood) as they brought home the cup and the cries of Chak De! were loud and about in the air.

The air at the stadium was quite festive and with Shahrukh Khan coming down to the grounds to greet and hug the team that had done a nation proud!

Interestingly, Shahrukh Khan’s movie this year called, “Chak De! India” had a positive impact on the nation. Coincidentally, India also won the Hockey Asia Cup (the sport which figured in the movie) this year and it looks like the nation has forgotten the memories of the World Cup (ODI) crash that India took earlier this year.

So, the game is back. So is the Indian team!

Chak De India!!!

Dhoni with the Twenty20 World Cup (Courtesy:Cricinfo.com)

This was what everybody wanted. This is what we all got from Dhoni and his team. A dream final. A dream match up. A Dream Win!

I must admit that last night I wasn’t able to sleep well after partying quite late after India won the World Cup! This is an incredible win and it came after 24 years of long wait. I myself was disappointed when India crashed out of the World Cup earlier this year. I was cursing our team for losing out against a team like Bangladesh! Anyway, this victory brings the charm back into the game of Cricket. This has saved the game from fading into the darkness.

Both the teams did really well yesterday. This was sure. In the end, the better team got the victory. Our team did the hard work but early on during the final, it looked like the pressure was getting to the players. After all this was the final!

But somehow the players stuck together and did not give in to the pressure. Importance of team spirit showed the way. Anyway, both the teams did remarkably well and in the end, India didnot give in to the pressure of the game and won the match.

Here’s to Dhoni and his Team!

Dream Final: India vs. Pak at the Twenty20 World Cup

This is what we all have been waiting for? Haven’t we? This is the BAAP (mother) of all matches. You couldn’t have asked for anything better than what the first ever Twenty20 World Cup turned up at the finals: A dream India vs. Pakistan match.

If we look at the standings, India does have a slight edge having gained a sudden juggernaut-istic approach which they seem to have striked suddenly after losing to New Zealand at the Super 8′s. They have reached the finals beating (and eliminating) the likes of England, South Africa and Australia. All in one-go! Couldn’t have asked for anything better than this  for myself and the millions & millions of fellow Indians sitting in front of the idiot box or glued to that friendly FM broadcast.

Well, same goes for the Pakistan team which is showing quite a bit of resilience now with their better performances in this edition of the cricket.

But I wish and pray that our Team, the Boys in Blue win this match and bring home the T20 World Cup.

Do-or-Die: Indians have to beat the Aussies

No matter what people may say, but today’s match is bound to be a cliffhanger! After all, India is pitted against the best team in the world.

If they can pull off a victory against the Aussies, like they did against the Proteas (SA), this will be reason enough for each and every Indian to be proud of the Boys in Blue. Today’s match represents the final before the final for us. If they fail, however, then it would not be as disappointing as was the case with the ODI World Cup (where India crashed out of the preliminary matches!).

In any case, let us keep our finger crossed and hope for the best. But, seriously speaking, I think Dhoni’s Drubbers are a strong team and capable enough to show Australia the door given the kind of form they are in.

The influx of some new blood has really benefited the team and with Dhoni at the helm, we can expect some good results (as we have seen until now).

So, here’s wishing you luck for bringing home another victory for India.

Yuvraj has made history in the first ever Twenty20 World Cup Cricket by hitting six 6′s in one over off Stuart Broad. This has kept chances of India qualifying for the semis alive. The rest of the team also did great with Sehwag making a defining 68 to give the team a great opening along with Gambhir who also made 58.
