Amitabh To Play Jim Corbett
by SuperRaJJ on Feb.26, 2009, under Bollywood, Movies, What's New?

Amitabh Bachchan will be playing legendary tiger hunter and conservationist, Jim Corbett in Priyadarshan’s forthcoming movie, “Grrr”.
Priyan had this to say about casting Big B in the role of Jim Corbett:
he could envisage none other than Big B in the role of the fearless Jim Corbett
The film will be about the man-eating tigers of Sunderbans and is going to be a thriller.
Priyadarshan has so far directed the Big B only in commercials and this will be his first directing the Shahenshah in a movie.
Interesting to note here that Priyadarshan’s last outing, Billu (Barber), had the Badshah of Bollywood: Shahrukh Khan in it.
Farewell To Panchvi Pass

Yesterday, 27th Of July 2008, was the finale of Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?. For those who don’t know, Panchvi Paas is the Indian version of “Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader?”.
Coming back to the finale, Shahrukh Khan had none other than our very own Lalu Prasad Yadav for company. It was really a great show and had Lalu chugging through the whole episode and answering all the questions without much hesitation.
Or perhaps the show’s questions were setup that way? Who knows. Anyway, I pretty much enjoyed the show and was thoroughly entertained by our very own Railway Minister who has an ear to the ground!
With TRPs or ratings running low for the show mostly due to the Indian Premier League debuting side by side, I am doubtful if the show will return for a second season. Although SRK was optimistic about it and was saying that this is the season finale episode.

Budgeted at a whopping US$ 25 million (or Rs 1 Billion), SRK is all set to make India’s costliest movie. The movie is a fantasy based subject which will have lot’s of CGI and VFX.
It will be produced by Shahrukh’s home production, Red Chillies Entertainment, and directed by Anubhav Sinha of Tere Bin and Dus fame.
I hope the movie is a good one and lives up to the hype.

Race Grosses More than OSO in First Week Collections
by SuperRaJJ on Mar.28, 2008, under Bollywood, Entertainment, My Musings, News

Seems like Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna finally have a reason to smile. They have just overtaken the King Of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan’s biggest hit (of last year and which is being billed as the biggest hit of the decade) Om Shanti Om as far as the first week’s collections are concerned. RACE is a big hit already (and it is just the beginning).
The movie Race has captured the imagination of the people across the table. It is grossing well all over the country in all territories of India. That’s a piece of terrific news for the directors, Abbas and Mustan who are undoubtedly the thriller specialists of India. Abbas-Mustan must surely be rejoicing especially after their last two outings behind the megaphone were all but successful (remember: 36, Chinatown and Naqaab ?).
Well, good news for us thriller fans. I personally am a fan of their style of film-making wherein there ain’t really no clean protagonist in there stories thus bringing in an element of excitement and providing us with an edge of the seat entertainment.
If this wasn’t the season of exams, the film would have grossed atleast 60% more on the first week collections of OSO.
Bollywood’s Very Own Star Wars

Well, recently there’s been a lot of activity between our favorite stars and here’s an article that sums up the (in)famous stars’ wars for your (wicked) pleasure. If anybody remembers the Shahrukh vs. Amitabh, Aamir vs. Amitabh, Kareena vs. John or even the most recent Aamir vs. Shahrukh.
Now, now, people. Let’s not get dirty, OK! Let’s not be so wicked that we enjoy what these people have to fight about. But, then it’s better to enjoy all this rather than be left out.
Bollywood Box Office Report 2007

Well, if you people thought that there were no other websites to go to other than Indiafm or Rediff with regards to news about box office performance of movies, think again. Here’s a great website called the IBOS Network which tracks the box office collections of Bollywood movies and, in fact, has a huge archive of box office info on a lot of titles starting right from the 1940s and earlier.
As for the topic of this post is concerned, here’s a look at the Box office report for the year 2007 for Bollywood. According to the report, the top 5 earners of 2007 are:
- Om Shanti Om (Shahrukh Khan delivers a solid hit)
- Welcome (which got here because it was one week shy of the new year when it released and scored big in that one week, grossing almost 75% of what Om Shanti Om did in it’s entire run. This is Akshay Kumar’s fourth hit film in a single calender year giving him considerable clout at the Box Office)
- Partner (Salman and Govinda score points)
- Guru (Abhishek’s career defining performance scored for him and his director Mani Ratnam a power packed blockbuster)
- Chak De India (Shahrukh Khan did for hockey and what no one else could do, bring them to the headlines)
Om Shanti Om is a Blockbuster

So, the lethal and previously successful combination of Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan has delivered another great blockbuster for the King Khan.
Shahrukh Khan has had three (two in starring roles and one in a guest appearance movie) straight big hits this year and is on fire. Let’s hope he keeps the hits coming in.
Clash of the Titans: Om Shanti Om vs. Saawariya
by SuperRaJJ on Oct.02, 2007, under Entertainment, India, My Musings, News

This is one of the biggest clash of two of the most awaited movies of 2007. Yes. It’s about Shahrukh and Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya (which is the first production of Sony Pictures India).
2007 has not been a good year for Bollywood so far only a handful of movies making it past the HIT mark. I wonder if it would be wise (or good economics) to field two of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2007?
Maybe I’m wrong. But what if I ain’t? What if all of this is going to hurt all the parties involved rather than do any good for them. For me, as a cinema-goer, I don’t mind both of them coming at the same time since I would be watching both the movies.
What is your take?
Shahrukh Khan in Raj Kumar Hirani’s Next
by SuperRaJJ on Sep.26, 2007, under Entertainment, India, News

Raj Kumar Hirani, the man behind Munnabhai movies, plans to make a movie with Shahrukh Khan based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel about life in the IIT. Hirani plans to finish this movie before he can begin work on Munnabhai Chale Amrika.
It must be noted that Shahrukh was the original choice to play Munnabhai before Hirani banked upon Sanjay Dutt and the rest as they is history!
Good luck to you Mr. Hirani and you too Shahrukh. All I can say is: Lage Raho!
