Status Of NuvoPad

Hi Guys,

It’s been quite sometime since I updated my blog. That aside, I would like to bring up one question that has been asked to me for quite some time. People have been asking me regarding my pet project, NuvoPad. I want to do a little status check on it.

Now, first thing’s first. NuvoPad is very much alive, albeit on life support. I want to reveal a very embarrassing thing that happened to me regarding NuvoPad: I have somehow lost the source for the damn editor! I am sorry people but I HAVE been careless these days. It started right after I got engaged. I haven’t been paying much attention to my projects ever since.

I am trying to focus on my projects and am preparing to restart my unfinished work on NuvoPad. I will try to release the source under some accommodating license which will allow me to keep my right to the source but give new developers the freedom to contribute or create their own NuvoPads out of it. I am not certain on this yet. I am trying to do whatever is in the best interests of the NuvoPad project.

Will keep you all updated on the progress.

NuvoPad Roadmap

I have been thinking lately and to tell you the truth, I want to write NuvoPad from the ground up to be more user friendly and efficient than ever before. I am planning to move the source code to the .NET platform (preferably in C#) from the current VB base.

I hope I can manage it this way in a better way. I am going to start off with fresh code so that the editor is better than ever before.

Currently NuvoPad is in Alpha and that is why it is easy for me to switch the code and do a lot more without causing any major trouble for the users. I expect a beta release in the next couple of months if everything turns out fine.

Wishing all our users in particular and all the people in general a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I wish that the new year brings in joy, peace and prosperity for all of us. This is a time to make some resolutions for the new year and to kick off the festive season with some hardcore partying! I hope everybody has a grand and gala time out there. Best of Luck to you all.

To our users, got some news! We plan to release ver. 1.0 for NuvoPad with the new year in order to close the Pearl branch of the code and concentrating solely on the new SAKA branch for NuvoPad. Lots of surprises in this future release. I plan to bring in some more features (as far as I can) and have already started a complete rewrite of the application core. It is surely as exciting as it sounds!

Party and enjoy!

Yep, I know what you are thinking about right now. No. It’s not about NuvoPad releases. I have already made those available for download two weeks ago. It’s about the other sites where NuvoPad is available for download. I would like to make a couple of things clear for you all.

Firstly, the best place to check for the latest updates to NuvoPad is of course it’s homepage, NuvoPad.com.

Down with flu these days, plus update on status of Pearl (NuvoPad)

by SuperRaJJ on Nov.14, 2006, under Technology, What's New?, software

I have been down with flu since the past week now and have been unable to update my blog in the meantime. I feel terrible. All day long either of my nostrils remains blocked and I have problems breathing freely. Before you advise anything here, I wanted to tell you that I have been drinking lemon juice with a little water and taking medicines for flu and allergy. Although I feel that it has thinned out, but it still remains. Part of the reason this is happening is that what I can see is, the whole of Jeddah is under what I would call a “flu attack” ;-)

Now, for an update on the status of “Pearl” (NuvoPad). Ok, I have added tabbing to the interface making it easier than ever to use and have improved the UI as well.

Ok, now for the big surprise. I have also added tabbed browsing to it! Well I want to introduce you to NuvoBrowze. The built-in tabbed browser. All this while I’m down with flu. I can’t believe it. Anyway, will update you more on the status of
“Pearl” as it progresses. Till then wish me good luck and a speedy recovery from cold and flu!

First of all, I would like to thank all of the people out there for being patient with the kind of quality I had them use in the previous release, NuvoPad 0.1.5 Alpha. I had previously informed everybody that this is an Alpha release, it is full of bugs and shortcomings. So now comes the good part, I have made an outline of what features may end up in the next release codename Pearl.

New release coming up soon for NuvoPad (albeit, a minor one)

by SuperRaJJ on Oct.30, 2006, under Technology, What's New?, software

Please keep your eyes open as a new release is lined up for NuvoPad soon. This will be a minor, a very minor one in fact. The changes will include a new installer and also two versions will be maintained. A simple Lightweight installer which will include only the program and nothing else and another full version installer which would include the VB Runtime files (required by NuvoPad to run properly).

A Step-by-Step clarification guide to the NuvoPad review on Softpedia.com

Please make sure that you have read the editor’s review of NuvoPad on Softpedia.com before you read this article.

First of all, I would like to thank Softpedia for being a little more prompt than I ever expected them to be. I would further like to clarify some things mentioned in the review. I must say one thing honestly. I have cut out a couple of features from this release. This is true. Next, since I have already informed people that this is an alpha release, I don’t want people working on NuvoPad with some critical documents (or important documents).
