Soon In India: Take Your Existing Mobile Number To Your New Operator

Mobile number portability is set to be introduced in India by August this year:

“Mobile number portability, enabling customers to retain their old number while shifting from one operator to another, would be launched in major cities by August this year,” Union Minister for IT and Communication A Raja told reporters here on the occasion of the launch of BSNL’s 3G services.

Well, I know that I am definitely going to benefit from this service. And it is great for people like me who hate their current operators but love their numbers. This way, they get to leave their operators but keep their numbers which they have cherished since a long period of time and which is synonymous with them now (by being distributed to their family and friends).

So do you like to take your existing number with you when you switch operators?

iPhone Limits

by SuperRaJJ on Oct.27, 2007, under Mobiles, My Musings, News, Technology

Apple has announced a cash limit as well as a limit of 2 iPhones per customer to ensure the buyer did not resell the phone. This is a way to control the way the iPhone is used (read hacked or ‘unlocked’ and sold outside the US or to be used with a different carrier than AT&T, Inc.). Previously customers could purchase up to 5 iPhones and there was no cash limit upon the purchase.

I believe this is an infringement of one’s right to a basic necessity such as a cellphone and the way the user wants to use it. If a user wants to unlock it and /or want to use it with a different carrier, what’s wrong with it? Not fair. That’s what I want to say about this whole affair. Let them use it the way they want or let people have more access to it (why limit to a single carrier).

My Nokia Replacement Battery is Here

NOKIA

Well, after a wait of about a month and 7 days, I have received my replacement battery from Nokia for my Nokia N70. With it came a letter of thanks from Nokia, which expressed gratefulness to us that we participated in the product advisory!

Well, folks I think it was worth the wait and I am impressed with Nokia and their concern for their customers (even though I was pissed at the long wait I had to go through).

In any case, I’m better off (and safer too) with my new battery and I wish Nokia all the best and that they stay on top of the pyramid like they have done since the past 7-8 years.

As for me, my next mobile is certainly from Nokia again. I’m staying with them after all!
