So, It’s Back to the Default Theme for All Pumped Up? Only temporarily

I have to say that when I switched over to Jelly theme, I was happy until I posted a picture on my blog and that made the blog get out of the formatted settings. Which means, it was not what it was meant to be shown to the readers.

So I have, for the time being, switched back to the Kubrick theme until the time I pick up one of other good themes at the Wordpress directory of themes and customize it real nice and apply it to the blog.

So, please for the moment, bear with this theme can you? Thanks guys and gals. I knew would do that.

Road To Recovery

Looks like I finally made it. All this while I was entangled in a messed up blog on one side and work on the other resulting in me not being able to post to my blog even. Well, I think the blog’s limping back to normalcy and I feel that it is time to state that my blog is on the road to recovery.

Atleast, I feel so. Now, I just have to test it later on as go back to writing to the blog as well. I hope this will be good for me and my blog too! :-)

Expect the blog to be back to it’s glory in a week tops. I am giving it this much but I really don’t know if this is enough?

Coming Back Together

Finally, things are coming back together. So what even if they are coming in steps. It’s a great headache when you see things coming on like this with a website and blog that has grown bigger than I ever expected it to be!

I am happy that I took the decision to move to GoDaddy.com. They are giving me more options than my last host. I can atleast ensure that my blog and website do not go down again.

I hope you people will come back as the things are coming back into place. You can expect more now than ever before due to the increased things I’ve got on my mind!

I expect to give you more in the days to come.

Site Troubles!

by SuperRaJJ on Dec.05, 2007, under My Musings, News, What's New?

My blog was down due to a memory allocation error that was being generated from my ISP’s meagre allocation of 8MB to all the accounts. I tried to fix it the same day that I came to know about it but was unable to do so!

Anyway, when I failed to get anything out, I went to GoDaddy.com and took up a hosting account with them. Interestingly another incident found its place in my diary of wacky happenings.

I took a Linux hosting package for an year and then went on to pay by my credit card. When I was in the process of paying them while my payment was being processed that is, my DSL went down. I thought the transaction was not completed so I went ahead and purchased the same product (of hosting) another time. This time when I clicked on ‘process payment’ for my credit card, it went through successfully and then I was taken to the products that I had with me on my account (apart from the domains I have at their place), I saw I had two hosting packages.

But wait. I purchased only one package? Or two? Actually the first transaction had gone through and I didn’t see a confirmation page as the connection was lost before I could see it.

So, I applied for a refund by cancelling the product from my account. When I got a reply from their customer care executive, I was a little surprised. I had written to them with the reason for buying by pure accident the same product two times. The executive’s reply was that he had applied for a refund on my behalf and that it was not confirmed if I would get refund or not. this was at the sole discretion if the Sales/Purchase team or whatever.
Anyway, after much hassle, they did refund me with the payment. It will take them about 5-7 business days to put the money back on my credit card.
Oh woe is me!
Well, my trouble finally seem to be over as I shift my blog (and my whole site) to GoDaddy. It was really tough since I had a big blog (by now) and shifting the mySQL thing to another server was a big headache.
Anyway, life seems to be back on track. In the coming days, the site will be back to it’s full functionality. Inshallah.
Till then Chow!

Today, when I look at it, I feel proud to say that All Pumped Up! has moved up about 300,000 (approx.) ranks to be at about Rank 676,883 on Technorati. When I started my blog and got it put up on Technorati, I was like somewhere below the 1,000,000 rank mark.

Again all thanks to you people.

PageRank status

Well, I did speak with you guys about the great meltdown from Google on those who had higher pageranks but for All Pumped Up! it has been another milestone towards more stability and a better tomorrow for us.

We are now up one notch to a PageRank 4 (We were PageRank 3 a week or so ago).

I am indeed happy and thank you all in helping us achieve this. Keep coming. Keep looking. Keep doing what you like and we don’t mind that at all!

APU Bug Fixed: The Ratings Bar Not Appearing on Single Posts

by SuperRaJJ on Sep.18, 2007, under Technology, What's New?

I just noticed today that the amount of ratings that posts should receive was not at all moving as expected on  All Pumped Up!. So I decided to check out the reason behind it. When I checked the template code, I found that I hadn’t applied the ratings code on the single post.

So, I have finally fixed the bug on the Blog and now you can easily rate your favorite articles here at APU either on the frontpage listing or individually on each post/article’s own page.

Apart from this bug, there was another bug due to which the “Print This Post” button was not visible on the single post page. That has also been fixed.

The reason for this was the recent change in the theme of the blog to Drikatruu Jelly from the previous, Rainbow-Style.

I hope this will make your experience easy.

WORDPRESS

Well, after numerous customizations and tweaks according to the needs of All Pumped Up!, I have finally activated the new theme on my blog. The theme is Dikatruu Jelly and is quite well commented by the author for customizations by the blog authors/admins according to their need.

I have managed to do so in about 10 days during which period it was on my local test environment. Anyway, I hope this theme proves to be faster and more efficient in letting our users read the blog that they enjoy!

During the start of the downtime of the blog, I messed up

by SuperRaJJ on Sep.01, 2007, under My Musings, What's New?

While the site was nearing the end of the downtime, at just about the same time, I was working on the local installation of my blog which has the same name and properties as my online blog. I had downloaded a fresh copy of the online database and was restoring it over my local installation and faced an error. To fix this error, I decided to change some settings of the (local) blog. At the same time, I had the Dashboard of my online blog right next to it and the next thing you know, I changed settings of the online blog instead of the local one. Wham!

Right after this, my online blog went down. Thus giving me no chance to change the folly. Thus, when I returned to work today, I found my site’s url redirecting to the leeches (localhost.com) and then had to do some emergency changes in order to restore the blog.

It was kinda exciting but not on the online blog. So, here we are, all fixed up and smooth now.

APU is up again

I apologize to you all for the unexpected downtime of my blog. I hope you enjoyed your coffee while it was down for roughly 3 days.

The downtime signifies a couple of things to me: that APU! has indeed gotten bigger than I thought and that I need more bandwidth to satisfy the readers of my blog.

Well, I don’t know what to say except, thanks a lot to all of you out there who keep coming back to the blog and who are never disappointed with it.

Well, I hope I can do MORE. And I will too. See you around.
