Video: The new “Mile Sur” Song

Can’t tell you how happy I am to see the song. It’s a remake of the famed and greatest song of “unity in diversity” devised by the folks at DD (Doordarshan, the Indian state broadcaster). I basically saw the song on DD1 when I was visiting India with my parents during my summer vacation when I was in Class 4/5 (can’t remember correctly). I loved the song. The lyrics reflected the diversity of our great nation and had all the big stars and personalities as of that year.
The year was 1988 (or so I read somewhere). The song broadcast on India’s Independence Day, 15th August (of 1988).
Now, cut to 2010. The day was 26th January 2010. The song was “Phir Mile Sur” or the new “Mile Sur”. The producers this time are the Times Of India Group supported by Vodafone India.
The song has the personalities of India from all walks of life and who embody India in it’s diversity. People of the soil. I just couldn’t have enough of it. Love the song.
Loved the old song. Love the new one even more. Watch it yourself and decide.

Windows 7 GodMode!
by SuperRaJJ on Jan.10, 2010, under What's New?, Windows

Well, to think that Microsoft had left out all the fun out of the once amusing Windows OS and here I am finding that there does exist a secret easter egg withing Windows 7 and perhaps even Vista!
This hidden egg called the GodMode by the enthusiasts who found it is indeed a great tech user’s delight. To use it, follow the following:
- Create a folder
- Rename it as > GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
That’s it. The moment you do this, the folder gives you all the features of the OS in one place. This allows you to take control of your OS even though most of the options that you get to set from the folder are already available from various places within 7 but still having one click access is far better than having to search for them in the various locations/menus etc.
Well, hope you enjoy this (I definitely am enjoying!).
Happy New Year 2010 Every One!

Well, even though I have been busy for the past two months, I did keep on tweeting at (ir)regular intervals to let you know that I am still interested in communicating with all of you.
So, before I can bore you with a lengthy description of how I spent the last day of 2009, I wish all of you a great and prosperous new year 2010.
Having said so, today didn’t start well for me. I woke up to find my washing machine’s dryer not working. Then I tried to take a short nap in the afternoon and couldn’t complete it as my brother and sister-in-law had plan for all of us to go to the beach. So, I went to the beach and we spent a great evening by the sea. It was windy at the beach and chilly too. But we had our fun with a game of UNO. No one cheated today, though, and that reduced the fun a little bit.
We did wrap up by the night though and ordered large pizzas to sign-off 2009 in style. So, here I am getting ready to hit the bed after spending a rocky day!
All this not withstanding, I would like to say that year 2009 was not really as good as I wanted it to be.
I had plans for holding my wedding but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
I had hopes my salary would rise but that didn’t happen too. Instead there was a downturn all around the globe.
I had my vacation lined up around Eid-Ul-Adha (Bakrid) and that was postponed due to a new project.
So, with all these things that happened I only hope that 2009 closes with hopes of a good year in 2010. I hope that like President Barack Obama we can say aloud, “Yes, We Can!”.
Let’s hope and pray the new year will turn out one of the best years for all of us around the world!
I do hope that I have lotsa girl friends this year before I finally settle down with marriage. Just a hope. So, over and out as I prepare to sleep. See you later ppl.

Tips & Tricks for Windows 7

Haven’t you been wondering what you will do with the Windows 7 shipped on your shiny new laptop since you are familiar to be working with XP? What does Windows 7 have to offer that Windows XP or Vista doesn’t have?
Well, Windows 7 has many changes on the surface and many more under the hood is all I can say. You can go to the official site and play some videos available there highlighting all the features available in 7.
In the meantime, I got a great article that gives tips and tricks for use on your Windows 7.
Sample this excerpt from the article regarding some great keyboard tricks:
Keyboard magic
Windows 7 allows you to use the keyboard in some pretty imaginative ways. For instance, to quickly dock the current application to the left or right side of your screen, hold down the Windows key and tap the left or right arrow keys. To quickly maximize the current window, hold down the Windows key and tap the up arrow key. To return the application to its former size, hold down the Windows key and tap the down arrow key. To minimize all open applications except the one in the foreground, hold down the Windows key and tap the Home key. The same key combination returns all applications to the state they were in before you pressed Windows key: Home.
The Windows key in combination with the numbers along the top of your keyboard can be used to activate minimized applications as they are represented in your Windows taskbar. Windows key+1 restores the first application icons on the taskbar. Windows key+2 restores the second application, and so on. For instance, if Internet Explorer is the first icon on your taskbar, pressing Windows key+1 will bring Internet Explorer to the foreground. Press Windows key+1 again, and Explorer is minimized again to the taskbar. If you have multiple instances of Windows Explorer — or another application — minimized to the taskbar, keep pressing the Windows key and the appropriate number to cycle through the instances of the running application.
For more such tips, go to the article right away! If you plan to upgrade to Windows 7 from XP or Vista, make sure to run the Upgrade Advisor on your PC/laptop to ensure that all the available features work on your machine. Best of luck with your adventures in Windows 7! I have got the Windows 7 Enterprise Edition (yay!!!) that I have installed on my PC and I must say that I can’t get enough of it.

Johnny Depp Not to Return in Pirates of the Caribbean 4?

As per reports, Johnny Depp is having second thoughts in returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as (the now famous) Captain Jack Sparrow. I must say that this is the very franchise that shot Johnny to fame six years ago. Wonder what he has in his mind?
Well, the new Pirates movie is set to be the first in a new trilogy of movies. Let us hope that Johnny finally reprises his role rather than sit out on another fun-tastic adventure in the Caribbean. What say guys?
Pilots, Cabin Crew Members Fight in Mid-Air
by SuperRaJJ on Oct.04, 2009, under Crazy Forwards, India, News, What's New?

The moment there’s a mid-air scare, we trust ourselves in the so called safe hands of our pilots and cabin crew while we are taking a flight to our destination. Now, what if the cabin crew and the pilots slug it out while the hapless passengers pray to The Almighty to save their lives with the stewardship of the plane seemingly taking them for disaster?
In order to settle their dispute (over whatever issue they claim it to be for), two members from the cabin crew actually came to blows with the pilot and the co-pilot right inside the cockpit.
Scary… Now, I’m having second thoughts over taking that Air India flight to Delhi the next time I have to fly home!
The incident is outrightly condemnable and all those who are involved should be severely punished in order to teach them a lesson and also set an example for all the other cabin crew whether in India or any other place.
The government should immediately take appropriate action otherwise it’s good bye to Air India for me. I can’t possibly ignore this bizarre incident at all.
Another disgraceful achievement for the once mighty Air India after the shocking engine fire incident of September 2009 where a Riyadh bound plane’s engine caught fire right before take off from Mumbai. If thing’s keep going this way, I don’t see any reason to keep the Maharaja flying.
The government should either privatize Air India or shut it down. Apart from this, I don’t see any other solution where AI could be safe and also free from Babus.
God help Air India and us. Amen.
Addicted To MafiaWars!

When I was leaving for my vacation to India in August, I had just started playing a game that was suggested to me by one of my friends on Facebook: Mafia Wars by Zynga.
At first it looked a little complicated but when I really got the hang of it, (within 30 minutes) it was simply irresistible! It was fun, interesting, and addictive. Back in August, I was busy shopping and all in preparation for my trip to India and so didn’t really sit that long to play it. Then, I went to India and checked on it and then started playing it there. It was then that the addictive phase began (and has since never ended
).
Now, back in Jeddah just before Eid vacations, I continued playing the game and in the process made a lot of friends on Facebook; courtesy of MafiaWars.
All I can say is that you have to play this game to feel the way it pulls you in. Managing your properties, doing jobs, gaining levels etc. All this had made me stop tweeting and even stop blogging. I have finally managed to drop this post to let you all know what I had been doing all these since my last post on the blog.
I have a couple of more posts to be added to the blog!
APU’s PowerUser Addons for Firefox

I had been watching the show from the sidelines for a while (and was busy too!). But, ever since Mozilla introduced a feature called Addon Collections on their Addons website, I had this desire to share the great firefox addons that I use and that have made my life quite easy, secure and safe.
I have created my own collection of addons called, “APU’s PowerUser Addons”. The collection can be accessed from here.
Be sure to share your thoughts about this collection of plugins and addons that I have share with you all. In the meantime, I will be adding more addons that are deserving!
