Vodafone to Offer iPhone on Installments in India?

It seems not pricing it right has affected the plans of both Airtel and Vodafone in getting the iPhone 3G off the desks.
You see the iPhone hasn’t exactly taken off in India where it was launched by not one but two carriers, Airtel and Vodafone, due to it huge price tag: Rs. 31,000 (US$ 721) and Rs. 36,100 (US$ 840) for the 8GB and the 16GB models respectively. Considering it is available for less than half the above mentioned prices in the US market, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it selling more in the grey markets than from the carrier’s shelves in India.
While it is reported that Vodafone is talking to banks to arrange for finance arrangements to enable customers to purchase the device, Airtel is not commenting on any speculation.
My advice to them: Please price your iPhone right or not sell them at all. After all, if it can be available in a market like Singapore too with less than half the price these people are demanding in our country, it is going to be hard to sell it.
As for me, I prefer to wait and see what happens next. If it comes in a feasible way, I’ll go for it. If not, I’ll stick to my baby, the Nokia N82. I have always been a Nokia-Man ever since I started using a cellphone and all this is confirming just one thing: I am going to stay with Nokia.
