A great plugin called Sabre is a great option to let users who want to register on your blog to verify themselves as being real humans. What is Sabre you say? I let the author tell you that:
SABRE is an acronym for Simple Anti Bot Registration Engine.
Sabre actually lets you incorporate a number of methods right inside the Login/Registration page to allow users registering for new account on your blog to verify that they are actually humans and not bots who are intent on abusing your blog and may possibly cause trouble for you. I was in fact searching for a solution to cover up my new user registration process after I secured my website in the following manner:
- Bad Behavior protects my site against access by bots. What this means is that known and (heuristically detected) bots will be blocked from accessing my site.
- Akismet protects my site against comments spam. It is a very powerful plugin.
- Spam Karma is another plugin that I use along with Akismet to block spam. Very effective and powerful.
- AjaxedWordPress plugin‘s adapted reCaptcha module that helps me provide a Captcha validation before anybody can actually post a comment. Very effective.
- And finally, Sabre. A very effective user registration validation plugin.
