On the occasion of India’s 61st Independence Day, I would like to wish everybody (Indians and non-Indianbrothers alike) a very Happy Independence Day. Remember that achieving Independence for us was really VERY tough.

So, if you are an Indian like me, BE PROUD of what we achieved until today. Right from the day we achieved our freedom. From being a nation looted of all of it’s wealth and (partial exploitation) of our natural resources and human labour (Indians were mercilessly shipped by Imperial Britain to various parts of the world to serve their own interests), we rebuilt ourselves. Today we, as Indians, stand united everywhere in all of the immense diversity, chaos and all of our shortcomings. We stand by each other in times of want. I am proud of that.

I am proud of the fact that I am an Indian by Birth. I am Proud of my less than perfect (but learning) country.

I must mention one thing, though. This year’s Independence has been marred by the uncalled for protests in the state of J&K due to which there has been a sad loss of life. I hope that our politicians stop inciting violence for issues that they can twist and hope to win elections. This is something we all should be careful about.
