Microsoft Building Internet Centric Non Windows OS?

It is being reported that Microsoft maybe building an Internet centric non-Windows Operating System. This operating system will eliminate the dependance on hardware as is the case with the present day operating systems. An incubator project codenamed “Midori” is being headed by Eric Rudder, senior VP for Technical Strategy at Microsoft.

This article on Midori at Times Infotech, reports further:

According to reports, Microsoft Corp is working on an incubation project code named Midori, which seeks to create a componentized, non-Windows OS.

Though Microsoft refused to comment on what exactly Midoris is, the company confirmed its existence.

According to a report in Software Development Times, Midori is an Internet-centric OS, based on the idea of connected systems that largely eliminates the dependencies between local applications and the hardware they run on, unlike the present-day operating systems.

So, seems like Microsoft is finally beginning to prepare to exist without it’s flagship Windows Operating System just as it is learning to exist without it’s star chairman, Bill Gates! Let’s see what Midori has for us.
