Should I Take This, Or That Cellphone?

I went to the Cellphone market yesterday in order to purchase a cheap cellphone for myself. My parameters for purchasing a mobile were simple,
- Should be a Nokia
- Should fit the bill (that I could afford for an additional mobile)
- Should have some worthy features or ringtones at the least.
So, off I went taking my friend along and then headed straight to the market. I spent time visiting a couple of stores before I went to a store and saw that I was getting a couple of Riyals less for the same cellphone. I was contemplating between Nokia 1610 and Nokia 2626. Finally, without knowing the features of the said phone in detail, I purchased 1610. Now when I came home along with the new mobile, I charged the phone (it took about 2 hours) and I waited patiently for it to finish so that I could lay my hands on it and dig all it’s features.
Finally, I got my chance (to look at the features). What I found was a disappointment of a phone. It was running an older version of the Series 40 OS (contrary to my expectations!) which I had used a long time back and which was marginally updated to include a couple of new features. I was expecting Series 40 OS with Feature Pack 2 or 3.
So, I decided to return the phone to the shop I purchased it from. I went back the next day in the evening and to my annoyance, I found out that the particular retail shop from which I purchased the mobile was closed on the weekend! The other branches (of the same company) in the vicinity of this shop were open. I decided to check with them if I could return the mobile set to them and purchase any other handset in exchange and he told me it was not possible.
So, desperate as I was to dump the said phone, I decided to sell it just like that at a loss of about 5 – 10$. I finally managed to sell it off at a loss of $10 and then went on to purchase the Nokia 1680 Classic which had the S40FP2 OS on it and even had a camera (albeit at an extra cost of $15 over the retail price of my previous 1650 mobile phone). So, I finally purchased the handset and came home a happy man.
So, I learned my lesson from all of this. That I should never purchase a phone unless I am damn sure that I like the phone. The next time I go for a mobile purchase, I will be a lot more careful with my decision making… I hope you all will be careful, too.
