Whether you are new to blogging or have been around the blogsphere, for let’s say a couple of months, it is very important how you write entries to your blogs.

What you write is never a matter of concern . It’s how you write that really matters.

As you can see from my earlier posts, I wasn’t that good either. I was writing. Oh yeah, I sure was writing. And that too good content and all original. But the thing is, I wasn’t doing it right. The result was, not many people visited my site.

I was quite busy with the projects at work during that period and so didn’t get the time to analyze all this. Slowly I started realizing that if I didn’t take it seriously, I would be history. Online memory is short you see. You are as good as your last article. A blogger’s like a movie star. If you deliver a hit (read great or good article) after hit, you are good. If you stop delivering that, you are as good as dead. Who would go to a theater to watch a bore?

So, the point of explaining this is simple. Write what (don’t abuse this word please! By this I only mean, something sensible that is understandable by humans!) you want. But write it in a way that is simple and not so complicated.

I have some advice here for you:

  1. Make entries with relevant titles. It wouldn’t help the user if you gave your entry a title that doesn’t match with it’s content. Think of how you would react to such an entry and you will know. ;)
  2. Write the subject of your article in your title
  3. When you are writing about a topic, stay on course. Don’t stray from the main topic too much. This cause too many distractions and there are chances of the user loosing interest.
  4. Long entries are a major turn off for many users. Try to squeeze as much as you can in as few words as you can.
  5. Word make a lot of difference. While making an entry, you have to understand that your article will be read by people from many parts of the world. People who speak english, people who know english and people who barely know english. Choice of the most common words makes your entry more readable and interesting across the spectrum.
  6. Divide your entry into paragraphs at regular intervals. This makes the entry more visible and neat to the eyes rather than putting everything in one big ugly paragraph of a thing that never gets differentiated by your eyes.

Well, I guess that’s it from me. There is certainly a lot more to improve upon than just these points I gave out.

I leave you with some links that are (hopefully) useful for you:
