Me, My Nokia and The Rest!

I have recently discovered that life with Nokia is so easy! Never have I found such a variety of software and games than for my Nokia, starting right from my Nokia 6300 to my newest acquisition the Nokia N70. Well saying that doesn’t mean that I didn’t purchase any other make of a cellphone (well Pocket PC to be precise). About 3 months back I purchased a Pocket PC imate Jamin. Wow the set was sleek and cool. I took the black colored one. At first it worked out fine (of course that was before the shine of the set’s looks started to wear off me). Then the things started to dawn on me. The things which make Nokia #1 in the market. Even though my Jamin had a touch screen and was just about ok with regards to ease of use but there were certain things missing. Like for e.g., the dialer had to be brought up by searching through the start menu and was difficult to adjust to, especially for Nokia users (trust me when I say that).
Apart from this, the availability of useful software was scanty. The windows platform offers quite a lot of opportunities but is still behind the Symbian OS (that is used by Nokia). The only thing lacking on Nokia devices is a touchscreen. Believe me, if they include that on their current phones, the market for other phones would be finished.
Let us hope that Nokia looks into this aspect. I do know that they have launched a phone with a touch screen using the Symbian OS.
It looks to me as a step in the right direction and hopefully enough they will bring out more “touch-me†phones in the future.
I also believe another area where they need to improve is the “cam-phone†area. The cameras on most Nokia devices are at par or even exceed similar stand alone cameras by a long shot but compared to SonyEriccsson they are lagging behind. Cameras on most of the SonyEriccsson devices are the best on the market. The camera of my Jamin was also below par in comparison to Nokia, even though it was a 2 Megapixel camera. The video was choppy when compared to videos made by my Nokia N70. All this lead me to abandon the Jamin and return to Nokia domain. Next on my target is N73 with it’s 3 Megapixel Carl-Zeiss Camera it is all the more mouth watering for me. So watch this space for more on that phone! Right now I love my N70. If you are looking to buy Nokia N70, just buy it and don’t think too much about it.
